Lesson 8: My City – Can / Can’t

Grammar Focus: Can / Can’t (Ability)
- We use can to talk about ability.
- We use can’t to say we are not able to do something.
Structure:
I can swim.
She can speak English.
We can play football.
Negative:
I can’t drive.
He can’t swim.
Important Rules:
After can / can’t, use the base verb (no -s).
She can play.
She can plays.
Do not add “to” after can.
I can to swim.

Examples:
I can speak English.

My brother can play football.
My sister can’t drive.
