Lesson 6: Hobbies – Like / Don’t Like

Grammar Focus: Like / Don’t Like + Verb

  • We use like to talk about things we enjoy.
  • We use don’t like to talk about things we do not enjoy.

Structure:

  • I like + verb

  • I don’t like + verb

Examples:

  1. I like reading.

  2. I like playing football.

  3. I don’t like waking up early.

With He / She / It: 

  1. He likes football.

  2. She likes music.

  3. He doesn’t like coffee.

Important:

  • Add -s with he / she / it → likes

  • Use doesn’t (not don’t) with he / she / it

Examples:

  1. I like music.

  2. I like playing games.

  3. I don’t like cold weather.

  4. My sister likes drawing.

  5. She doesn’t like math.

Writing Practice

  • Write 3–5 sentences about yourself.
  • Use the grammar role and at least 3 words from the vocabulary list.
  • Try to write a small paragraph.
